The Troy-Bilt 382cc Powermore OHV 30 Premium Neighborhood Riding Lawn Mower can be seen today. This rear wheel drive mower looked like a combination scooter and lawnmower when I first saw it, but the real challenge is not what it looks like, but how it works in my garden. Let’s see if she can do her job, shall we?
The first thing I want to say about this ride-on mower is that it takes about an hour to assemble and you need different tools (mainly 1/2 and 9/16 wrenches). I had to take mine apart, put on the steering wheel, the seat and the battery, make some adjustments, refill the fuel tank, and so on. So, after a while, to do a good job.
When it was put together and ready for use, I decided to keep it on my property. It mows the grass quite well on flat ground, but can’t cope with hills that aren’t even steep. Now I know rear wheel drive mowers aren’t very good for hills, but this one did very badly and I thought she would jump me. I have therefore decided to keep them on track until the end of this review.
I noticed that the bike was quite powerful, and that it cut my grass, even the high wild grass that I grew on the edge of my property. Although it is smaller than other, more expensive mowers, it is much larger than a push mower, so it mows my lawn fairly well. As long as he was on a flat surface.
It also has a good turning circle. 18-inch turning circle, to be exact. Of course it’s not a zero-radius mower, but I’ve been able to get much closer to my oaks than with some of the push mowers I owned, so it’s always a plus.
Although he mowed the grass very well, he didn’t do as well as I would have liked. First of all, I noticed that the ministry has been oddly arranged. For some people it might be okay, but it was really weird and I felt like I was stretching. I didn’t like the clutch and brake combination either. For me it was a bit too sensitive and that led to a rather slow driving behaviour.
Another point I’d like to mention is that you have to remove the knives to go the other way. Yes, I know it’s a safety issue and more and more mowers are equipped with this feature, but it wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked and I added it to my mowing time.
The last thing I want to say about this ride-on mower is that it’s not really designed for large plots. If you have a large lawn, you can buy a larger lawnmower.
8.6 General assessment
This small rear-wheel drive mower is ideal for medium flat terrain, turns well and is quite expensive. I think it’s an excellent rear mower with an engine worth no arm and no leg.
